Chicken Liver & Vegetable Purée

Packed with essential nutrients and rich in natural flavour, this chicken liver and vegetable purée is a wholesome, nourishing option that doesn’t compromise on taste. Chicken liver is a powerhouse of Iron, Vitamin A, and B Vitamins; supporting healthy growth and development. Smooth, flavourful, and easy to digest, this purée is a simple way to offer your little one a nourishing start on their solid food journey.

Ingredients

  • 100 g chicken livers
  • 20 g mushrooms (sliced)
  • 50 g potato (finely sliced and soaked in water for at least 12 hours. Boil prior to using in the recipe.)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • very small pinch of dried mixed herbs
  • couple of small fresh parsley leaves (no stalks)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 250 ml water

Instructions 

  • Clean the livers and remove any fat or gristle then slice them.
  • Sauté the mushrooms in a saucepan with the olive oil, parsley and dried mixed herbs until softened.
  • Add the sliced liver and sauté for approximately 1 minute or until it has changed colour.
  • Add the potato to the saucepan, pour the water into the pan with salt and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Puree in food processor until desired texture has been achieved. You may like to add some more water at this stage.

Notes

Suitable for ages 7-9 months.
Suitable for freezing.
Recommendation: Serve once a week due to the high level of Vitamin A found in liver. Excessive Vitamin A intake can be harmful.
