Introducing your little one to wholesome, balanced meals is an exciting step, and this chicken, potato, and broccoli purée is the perfect place to start. Packed with lean protein, essential vitamins, and a gentle blend of flavours, this purée offers a nourishing combination of chicken, creamy potatoes, and tender broccoli — all pureed to a smooth consistency for easy digestion. Ideal for babies just beginning their solid food journey, this recipe is both nourishing and comforting in every spoonful.
- 150 g skinless chicken thigh fillets (diced)
- 1 pc small potato (peeled, chopped and soaked in water for at least 12 hours (no more than 50g))
- 1 pc broccoli head (no stalks)
- tiny pinch of dried mixed herbs
- couple of small fresh parsley leaves (no stalks)
- 150 g water
- salt and pepper to taste
Place potato and water into pot and cook until soft.
Drain water after step 1 and replace with 150g fresh water (this will remove any fructose that has leached into the water).
Add broccoli, diced chicken, parsley and mixed herbs to the pot and continue to cook until chicken is cooked through.
Pop it in the food processor and puree.
This recipe can be made and served fresh or can be divided up into portions and frozen for convenience. Large ice cube trays are a great way to freeze the puree and once frozen, pop the frozen puree portions into a sandwich bag in the freezer with the date on it.
