Homemade Breadcrumbs

Create your own homemade breadcrumbs that are both delicious and HFI safe. These breadcrumbs are perfect for adding a crispy, golden texture to your favourite dishes without the worry. Ideal for coating proteins, chicken schnitzel, or making stuffing, these HFI-safe breadcrumbs are an easy and flavourful pantry staple that caters to both dietary needs and culinary creativity.

Ingredients

  • Baker’s delight Pane Di Casa bread
  • Pinch of Salt and/or pepper
  • Very small pinch of dried mixed herbs

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 170°Cand place baking paper on a baking tray.
  • Rip the bread into small pieces, including the crust as this adds to the colour and flavour.
  • Place the bread into a food processor / thermomix and pulse it until the texture is very small breadcrumbs.
  • Spread the breadcrumbs on the baking paper evenly. You can also sprinkle some salt, pepper or dried mixed herbs on the breadcrumbs prior to baking.
  • Bake for a maximum of 10 minutes or until the breadcrumbs are nice and golden. Keep a close eye on them as they burn very quickly.
  • Let the breadcrumbs completely cool before storing.
  • Store in an airtight container in your pantry. Alternatively, you can also freeze the breadcrumbs if you make a large batch and use when needed.
